How to make a perfect batch of popcorn, with no burnt kernels! Easy stove-top popcorn recipe – Cook time = 10 mins:
Heat 3 tablespoons of sunflower oil in a heavy based saucepan on medium high heat. Put 3 or 4 popcorn kernels into the oil and put the lid on. When all of these pop, add enough kernels to cover the base of the saucepan in one even layer. Cover with lid, remove from heat and count to 30. This allows kernels to get to a near-popping temperature. Then return to heat and they will all pop at the same time. Once the popping starts, shake the pan gently and keep the lid adjar so that the steam can escape – your pop corn will be crisper this way. Once the popping slows to several seconds between pops, remove the pan from the heat, remove the lid, and tip the popcorn immediately into a wide bowl. You can now add savoury yeast flakes and Celtic Sea salt to it and even melted butter if you so wish!
With this technique, nearly all of the kernels pop, and nothing burns.
